I saw these guys live a couple of times, and I was very excited to get my hands on their new music. And it didn’t disappoint. Save Amos’ Self-Titled release is full of easily-accessible and catchy tunes.
The songs are built on the same simple structures that define the pop-punk genre. And Save Amos manages to keep the sound fresh and exciting.
The standout performances of the band for me is Drew’s voice, and Michael’s bass playing. Drew has a great voice. Mostly clean and robust, he is able to take it to emotional screams like the end of The Usual. And Michael is my favorite type of bass player. Holding down the bottom end without just playing the root of the chords. He is creative without being flashy or overpowering. The drums and guitar are also solid. It is a very good mix of simplicity and creativity.
I think that this album is well worth your time and money.
