The Clap


What are your names and what instruments do you play?

Afresh- guitar singing
Valpal – keys singing
Shmev – drums singing
Puke – bass smoking 

How did you come up with your band name? 

Valpal sat on the wrong toilet seat a couple years back and got The Clap.  It was either start a band or or give handjobs behind Wings n’ Things to raise money to pay for the medical treatment.  She still gives handers occasionally. 

Who or what band has the most influence on your song writing and why? 

Beehive and the Barracudas.  John Lee Hooker.  Clyde Mcphatter.  The Coronets.  R. Kelly.  The Zombies.  WHAM.  We are also greatly influenced by the Baldwin brothers and Charlie Sheen. 

In the next 5 yrs where do you each see the band going? 

Going in and out of Planned Parenthood a lot.  And probably court. 

If you could open up for any band right now, which would it be? 

We open up for any band.  And anyone who says they’re in a band.  And anyone who looks like they should be in a band.  We open up real wide for almost anyone, monogamy isn’t punk. 

How do you describe your sound? 

A hot mess as performed by Future/Former adult film actors and child stars. 

Is there anything that you would like to change about the local San Diego music scene? 

Less suckin and more fuckin. 

Any big news items that are on the horizon? 

We’re gonna be on the Maury Povich  show next month, the episode is called “Baby Roulette: 3 guys and 1 girl”. 

What is the biggest thing about the band that you want to improve? 

You can’t improve on perfection.   

Any last words? 

“If you don’t got The Clap, you don’t got SHIT.”
