What are your names and what instruments do you play?
Beau Gray - Vocals, Guitar |

How did you come up with your band name?
The name comes from a song Beau wrote for his grandfather before he passed away in 2005 called "The Spirit Of Lexington Field". The band used to be called Fiffin Market, but due to some unforeseen circumstances we decided to make the change to Lexington Field in 2009. It is a very inspirational song and memorial to a great man.
What band has the most influence on your song writing and why?
The first band that comes to mind is Flogging Molly. We love the energy of their music and their shows. The subject of their songs ranging from love to drinking in pubs really appeals to our target audience - which is everybody of course. Another band that has had a big impact on Lexington Field from the beginning is Great Big Sea from New Foundland, Canada. They are experts of mainstreaming the traditional drinking song.
In the next 5 yrs where do you each see the band going?
We hope to venture to the east coast, we hear they love themselves some irish folk punk. In the meantime, we will continue to bring that attitude to San Diego and the southwest United States, write fun, energetic music, and continue the good times that began three years ago!
If you could open up for any band right now, which would it be?
No brainer...Flogging Molly
How do you describe your sound?
Irish Folk Punk
Is there anything that you would like to change about the local San Diego music scene?
To change the music scene you have to change the people. Let's see more quality bands that are playing simply for the sake of playing, for the love of creating music. People can often and easily lose sight of why they started playing to begin with with. We want to see a music scene where people are playing music because they love to create music, and not trying to just "make it". If it happens it will happen.
Any big news items that are on the horizon?
We are headlining the Belly Up Tavern on St. Patrick's Day, which is pretty much our Christmas. We are also releasing a 5-song EP on that same day called "The Streets of Dover". This is a huge year for us. We are also going to continue writing for a full length release later this year or early 2011 and play many, many more shows.
What is the biggest thing about the band that you want to improve?
We pride ourselves on putting on a fun show that you can tap your knee to and get up and dance around like a drunken sailor. Because we play so many shows, it is tough to get the time to organize seven people and bring in new material not to mention have time for marketing. So, to improve, we want to just keep adding more and more to our library of material and give our audience some new stuff from time to time. We want to create a Lexington Field experience that will be remembered.
Any last words?
I'm staying. I'm finishing my coffee.
