Streetlight Manifesto - House of Blues
October 19, 2008

I had been looking forward to this show for a very long time. I was really looking forward to seeing Streetlight Manifesto, and the bands opening for them where pretty good also.

I was pretty impressed with the A.K.A.’s, having never seen them before. I walked in a little bit late, but caught the last few songs of their set and it was pretty good.

The Feer Nuttin Band was something else entirely. I had no idea what to expect out of this band only hearing about them in a magazine. And what I saw was interesting. It was good though. A lot of people really liked them. They had a lot of good things to say.

But the main attraction was Streetlight Manifesto. And they absolutely killed it. They played so tight, and where so on their game it sounded great. They played a really good selection of songs from both of their records, and did a little bit from Keasby Nights. They played a lot of songs in general, and some notables I did not really expect where “Here’s to Life”, and a “Moment of Silence” really made that show memorable.

What really impressed me also was that Kalnoky pulled out his acoustic for a couple of songs. I thought it was a nice change of pace from their usual really fast songs. They slowed a few songs down, and played some pretty groovy stuff. One of the songs that they chose to play acoustic was Linoleum by NoFX. What more can you say? Maybe one of the greatest things I’ve seen or heard.

San Diego was the last stop on their tour and they played like it. I was not disappointed and can’t wait for them to back town. They said that after the tour they where going up to L.A. to record some new songs. I looked into the project that Kalnoky was talking about and it sounds insane. There are going to be a lot of new songs from them coming on ’09.
